“The epic conclusion to the amazing Sabina Kane urban fantasy series.
Sabina Kane is on the hunt. Her prey: Cain, the father of the vampire race and the one who murdered her family and her friends. Unfortunately, Cain is hunting Sabina, too.
The one man who holds the key to defeating Cain is, of course, Abel. A mage with secrets to spare and, hopefully, the power to match it. Unfortunately, for Sabina, he's in Rome and may not want to be found.
Sabina sets out for Italy with her friends, Giguhl and Adam Lazarus, to track down the only man who can get her the revenge she hungers for. But will he help her or oppose her? And just who is Abel, really? Worst of all, when Sabina figures out the goddess Lilith has a plan for her-she realizes this trip is getting deadlier by the minute.
As they say: when in Rome-SURVIVE.”
Blue-Blooded Vamp
is the fifth and last installment in the Sabina
Kane series by Jaye Wells.
Blue-Blooded Vamp
starts right after the events in Silver
Tongued Devil. Sabina wants revenge from Cain after what he did and nothing
will stop her until she gets it, doesn’t matter the consequences.
Sabina,
Adam and Giguhl have just arrived to New Orleans in look for the recreant mage
Erron Zorn. They need to find Abel and Erron knows how to find him. Abel was
the mage who imprisoned Cain and he is the only one who knows how to defeat
him.
Abel’s
search takes Sabina, Adam, Erron and Giguhl to Italy where many more surprises await
them. Not only Cain is search of Sabina and getting closer by the minute, but Asclepius,
the god Sabina owns two favors wants to collect her debt, forcing her to accept
his terms and putting a dent in Sabina’s plans and if that wasn’t enough Abel’s
identity brings many conflicts to an already turbulent situation.
I
read Blue-Blooded Vamp with mixed
emotions, I was sad to see one of my favorite series come to an end but at the
same time I was happy Mrs. Wells was ending the series in a high note rather
than extending it until there was nothing new left to be said as many other
series tend to do.
From
the first time I met Sabina in Red-Headed
Stepchild I have loved her and cheer for her and seeing her become the
person she is in Blue-Blooded Vamp
was not only refreshing but also inspiring. She has come a long way, she
started as an unscrupulous assassin who didn’t have or care for anybody in her
life, and now, the Sabina in Blue-Blooded
Vamp not only has a conscience but cares for others to the point of having
her own little loving/dysfunctional family. She has learned to love herself and
love others; in grand part this is thanks to Adam. His love for her has done
wonders to both of them, it has taught her she is worthy and deserving of good
things.
Adam
is as dreamy in this installment as he has been in previous ones. He has come
to terms to what Sabina is and needs and has been next to her every step of the
way, providing her not only with love but with anything she requires.
They
balance and complement each other perfectly and it’s easy to see they have a
happy future ahead of them.
As
always Giguhl brought the humor to the pages, he knew how to light the moment
when was needed. He has become an important person in Sabina’s life and she in
his. In this installment he also gets some unexpected surprises and seeing him
trying to deal with this new events was not only endearing but funny as hell.
The
world building Mrs. Wells created in this series hit a higher note on this installment
with the introduction of Irkalla and its many sections. The setting changed
drastically page after page, bringing new and unexpected things including new
and old characters we didn’t hope to see again.
Blue-Blooded Vamp
also gives us the chance to say goodbye to all the characters we learned to
love in the course of this series and to see where they are at and where they
are going with their lives.
Blue-Blooded Vamp
has good amount of action and surprises. The plot is well developed and nicely
paced. The only two complaints I have is that I was expecting a big more of the
last confrontation with Cain, after the whole build up I wanted a bit more of
drama/action. And my second and last complaint, it may sound funny to you and
it may not be a problem to many of you, but… the end was Too Perfect. I know, I
know, we all want a big nice HEA as an end to a series, especially, if it’s regarding our favorite characters; but in my opinion Mrs. Wells took the
Happily Ever After a bit to the extreme, it almost felt (to me) a bit fairy
tale-ish. I would have liked to see more drama and call me bloodthirsty but
maybe I needed a death that wasn’t one with a happy ending, I don’t make sense?
You will see what I’m talking about when you read this book, and you are going
to read it, why? Because if you are a fan of this series this book is a Must
and if you haven’t read this series, what are you waiting for? This series ROCK! And don’t
forget, these books should be read in order.
My Verdict: 4 Paws
